Title: Canary vaseline cakestand, id please

I have just purchased from a wellknown auction site what had I hoped was a Davidson cakestand with a hobnail pattern in between gadroons in canary vaseline glass.

However, it's not the Davidson hobnail pattern, which has four little nails in between the big ones. This has five small nails between the big ones and the centre is wrong - sort of fans, more like the fish tails on the Bagley fish scale stuff. The hobnails are octagonal, but not very well defined, which may just mean a well-used mould.

Sid says it's not US Glass's No. 9525 Tableware Pattern, so can anyone else help please

I don''t think it's either Davidson or Sowerby (although I may be wrong!) - but I did notice in Glen's new post about unusual Carnival vases that there is one by Riihimaki called Karelia which has a similar-looking hobnail pattern to your cakestand... perhaps Glen may know if it's the same pattern?

Hi All,

Two possible English makers could be Edward Moore and Allen (Scotland). Both did a hobnail pattern similiar to this one.

I've been trying to page through European archive stuff to see if I can find this pattern. Anne had a good suggestion above - I'll try and look some more asap.
