Title: Studio Goblet, with signature
Post by: David E on May 23, 2010, 07:44:38 AM
Can anyone help me identify the designer of this Studio goblet? I think it is British and the signature is quite small but distinct - I assume it is the right way up!

It has a broken pontil mark at the base.

5-in tall, 12.7cm.

David, been wracking my brains that I'd seen something similar.  Is this Liskeard Glass maybe (the first two initials on yours being LG then a / perhaps - Liam Carey now of Merlin glass was also at Liskeard I think????

Thanks for all your help. Rather a nice piece this, so I'll now research George Elliott...

EDIT: A little more about George Elliott on BMAG (http://www.bmagic.org.uk/people/George+Elliott)

Slight disparities between the two sites:

Elliott 1933-1998 on BMAG
Elliot 1934-1998 on Glass Routes

However, the latter, while well written, is not all that well edited.

What do you expect? It was written by a glassmaker!! Ha! Ha! Only joking  :rn:

Not in any way doubting Adam's id of the signature, but  having recieved "Scotland's Glass: 400 Years of Glassmaking" this-morning (thank you so much, David! :-*) it struck me there are similarities between the look of this goblet and the perfume bottle by Alastair MacIntosh on p.61.
