I'm following this one ... pity it's in the US ... it'll cost a lot to get it into the UK if it's won by a UK bidder  :!:

The signature is fine.

As the sigs are so scarce and only done for collectors visiting Paul, there should be more provenance or there is no way to know the signature is genuine.

I accept what Frank says, as a cautionary note.

But ...

Is there any evidence of "copies" of script "P. Ysart" signatures?

If the signature has been added by somebody other than Paul, then whoever did it was incredibly good with the basic features and balance of spacing etc. All the features of this one tie in very well with others I have seen - even though there are minor variations in parts, something which seems consistent across the other sigs I have seen.

In connection with his dealings with Paul Jokelson in the US, Paul Ysart often visited PCA conventions, where collectors discussed with him some of the items they had. Although I can't prove it, I suspect that Paul may well have signed a number of pieces on request in America - it should not have been too difficult to get hold of an engraving tool.

I don't think the cost of shipping will be a drawback. The problem will be winning it in the first place  The high bidder DSirch likes his perfume/ink bottles and is almost always successful if he bids. I imagine he will have a very large bid sitting on this one!!!

That is likely Kevin, I received a mail last year about a piece with P Ysart signature on, copied from one on the site. Forgotten what the piece was now it is sitting in my backlog somewhere.

Seller might be able to get provenance if asked, the piece is obviously good.
