Title: Murano or Scandanavian or both
Post by: jane rosemary on March 05, 2006, 09:34:30 AM
I have a blue glass vase with a cased baby blue top part on a clear cobalt blue bubble glass pedestal.
I am a glass novice and cannot decide if it is one or the other.
I need to sell it on ebay but dont know which category to put it in.
I have some photos but dont know how to put them on here.
Anybody got any ideas please?l :?

Hi Jane Rosemary & welcome,
To post a picture, go to the 'Glass' indez and there you will see a sticky on how to post a picture. The instructions are really easy to follow.
Good luck and I look forward to seeing the posted pics.

Yes Jane, you did.  :P
It may be worth posting in the glass section too.
I like it :!:
The top part looks very much like an opaline vase that I have. WHich was identified as probably Italian, but I see what you mean about Scandi or Murano. :?

Hi Della,
How's that for international co-operation?  I am really gateful to you for teaching me.
I love the vase too, I think it's beautiful;but it belongs to my sister who wants me to sell it for her, to help pay the care home fees for her husband - so needs must. Thanks again - Jane :D

I am concerned about your sister selling something that belongs to her to pay for her home care fees for her husband.

That does not sound right or fair and she should take advice, try Citizen's advice is my comment.

Thank you Glassyone for your concern,
Yes the family feel the same - but we have explored all avenues. Because she lives in a large house- it is considered that she is wealthy - but she cannot sell the house as it is in joint names and her husband is senile.
The legal fees involved are too expensive for her small income.
She lives in one room downstairs and one room upstairs to cut down on utility bills. It's a catch 22 situation - so we struggle on coping.
And who NEEDS a vase anyway?
Thank you once again for your advice and care - regards Jane

Hello Jane,
Sorry to hear about your sisters situation....
On the vase, or compote (I think its the correct term for this one), it does not give me a feeling of Murao glass, but the color looks like some Guildcraft pieces I have seen beore. Unsure about the bubbles on the pedestal though.

Hi Svazzo and Ruth,
Thanks for replies.  I am new to Guildcraft - so must do some research.
You are all so knowledgable and there is so much to learn.
One thing I have learnt is that Glass collectors are really nice people - glad I found this lovely site.
Thanks again - cheers Jane :D
