Title: Uranium trinket tray - ID = Walther Waltraut
Post by: Paul S. on March 30, 2012, 10:08:48 AM
Don't see this on Pamela's site, and must admit I'm being a bit lazy and haven't yet looked at Anne's very good trinket set information, so hoping one of the girls will be able to say from which factory this tray came.   I'm guessing probably pre 1940 in view of the uranium content, and unfortunately I don't have anything other than the tray.    It looks as though the motif is something to do with roses?        As always, thanks for looking :)

gosh, you have such a deep voice for a 'girl' ;)...............but seriously, thanks very much Wayne - you're obviously an expert at these things.    Does the word have a translatable meaning  -  and do you have any idea of a date span for this pattern?

Whoops I should have said 'Waltraut', not 'Waltrout'!  To be honest I only knew what it was as I sold one a few years ago...I think you will be needing Pamela for more detailed info, I had a quick look on google translate with no luck, although 'walt raut' apparently means 'roughens violence'  ??? ;D

sincere thanks to Wayne, Christine and Anne for their help and information.      It makes sense I suppose to give a girls name to something like this which will be used by the fairer sex.         I'd suggested earlier it was possibly pre 1940 in view of the uranium content, but only guessing, and no evidence to substantiate this.
You may use my pix with pleasure Anne, and you may well end up with the tray at some point.
