Title: Possibly Strömbergshyttan vase with engraved fish. ID = Strömbergshyttan

Swedish glass is not what I usually buy, but when I saw this vase at an A&C fair today at a bargain price I thought it was worth a punt. It looked Scandinavian to me when I bought it. I have done some research and wonder if it is Strömbergshyttan desgned by Gerda Strömberg in the 1930s.

The vase is 28.5 cm high, 23.5 cm diameter at the top. The glass has four engraved fish with seaweed. The rim is wavy, unfortunately with a shallow crack in it, but no missing glass. A real shame, but not too obvious. The pontil mark has been ground out to form a shallow circular depression. There is a fair bit of wear on the base, indicative of age. The glass has a distinct greenish-grey tint. There seem to be no marks on the glass at all: no signature or code numbers.

I hope the pictures help. I found it very difficult to get decent pictures. The fish was taken from the inside looking out.

The vase on the left hand side looks similar, though smaller.

Looks like you were right, Anton. I will update the title as a positive ID.

If anyone disagrees, the ID can be changed.
