Title: Skrdlovice Vase?
Post by: firebird on October 25, 2012, 08:06:55 AM
I bought this at a car boot sale. Thought it might be Skrdlovice. The base has the ground down pontil mark. Height: 8 ins. Any help much appreciated. Firebird

I don't recognize it as Skrdlovice, neither the shape nor the colour.  Is the edge of the base chamfered?

Italian is another possibility.  I don't think I've seen anything similar in Scandinavian.

Thanks for the the reply. I have found a very similar one on ebay attributed to Jan Beranek, described as a 1964 Czech Sculpural Art Glass Ruby Red Vase.
The base has been polished flat.

Hi,

The ebay listing you saw is wrong.  Your vase isn't Skrdlovice nor Czech.  I had one of these and the greasy feel to it convinced me it's Chinese. (You can see my vase here: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,40623.msg225068.html#msg225068)

Hi Anik,
Thanks for your reply. Mine is smaller with more spikes, but it does look very similar.
