This salmon coloured dish has been on my bedside table for ages.
I have been looking on the internet all weekend and can't find anything like it.
Any ideas?

It is 2" high (including lid) and 4 wide.
Many thanks.

as far as I know it is a soapdish made for Dutch soap maker Boldoot probably in the 1950/60s and not rare at all. I have two of these - one in white and one flesh coloured ("salmon" if you wish) 8)

Where Rob (Benigo) ID'd it as Halama (Czech) from their catalogue.
The design is called "Summer Nights" and still being produced !

I've handled one with an original Boldoot sticker quite recently and remember thinking "so that's why we see so many of these". Neither of mine is marked in any way, I've had both for more than 15 years so they date from the communist years before Halama.

Thanks guys.
More reading for me this afternoon.
It is not my worst piece of glass, that has to be Beethovens head. At least this piece is useful.
I have had it since my Nana died and that was in the 90's and she must have had it for a while before that.
An ID is always nice to have, so thanks again.
Strange how it has ended up in NL, my Nana had it in Manchester UK.

Halama is at Zelezný Brod so that would have been ZBS in the Communist era, I believe.
I was under the impression that this type of item was first produced pre WWII.
It sounds like František Halama's family have been involved for some generations http://www.halama-glass.cz/ .
Given that molds were "returned" (to him presumably) in the "restitution procedure after 1989" I think it's reasonable to surmize that his family were, at least part, owners of the entreprise pre 1945. Perhaps Marcus can confirm.
Della. there could be several explanations as to how it turned up in UK.
1) Importation of soap and container from Holland
2) Use of the container by UK soap makers.
3) Import of the container only direct from Czechoslovakia

Not so sure about this, I think Zbs is still Zbs. And come to think of it, not 100% convinced anymore of the Boldoot connection either - I may have it confused with an almost identical lidded oval box in the same fleshy tone. Sorry for the confusion.

Intriguingly close to mine, Terry's ex worst piece
It has the same 'polished' looking tits and shoulders... yet it seems to be more crisply moulded as though mine was cast from yours :!: . Next time you are in A'dam bring it along and we can compare.
-
It really is crisp, you can clearly see that the base mould was made from 4 sections. The boobs are virtually see through in some places in others just the nipples. It is not marked in any way. I couldn't see the photo of yours Frank as it is no longer there.

just for the record 8)

Your camera works beautifully Ivo, or should I say, you got the hang of yours
SNAP on the 'flesh coloured' one.

At least two moulds then!
