Title: Kosta Triangle Vase but who is the designer?
Post by: crystalclear on May 28, 2008, 10:37:08 PM
So I feel I am half way there  ;D

Kosta Vase, a lot of wear on the bottom, so much so I almost missed the Kosta siggie.

Forget about the numbers, if there is any, you can barely make out the Kosta mark.

It is triangle, about 10" high.  Has controlled bubbles around the center hole, spiraling up which reflects off of the 3 sides of the triangle.

Thanks Everyone!

Thank you I agree!

The right lighting and I can see why people love this glass.

Looks more like Leerdam to me, but can't find a picture on line to show you - happy to be proved wrong though..

Oh bubbles of course you can take pictures like this, you just have to light them underneath.

taylog1 someone could have signed it Kosta, so I am opened to all suggestions at this point.

I will do a little research on Leerdam to see what I can find out.

Thanks

Note Ivo's caution above re Leerdam - I've seen another shorter sloping triangular bubble Leerdam serica vase (loose pyramid shape) - it may be this that Botterweg was basing his identification on - we need someone with his reference - Floris Meydam "In Vorm", page 51 - to look it up

Everybody here is most familiar with the one you describe, usually called the "beech nut" - but I've never seen this tall version, which looks too much like a Gunnel Nymann vase to be believable. But obviously Willem has the In Vorm book - which I have never even seen in real life. Botterweg is the ultimate expert, I've never caught him out with a misattribution.

Hmmm would be interesting if someone had the book.

Anyone?
