Title: Yellow forked bubble vase - help with ID, please
Post by: Chris Harrison on June 12, 2006, 04:24:30 PM

Bought the above at a car booter a couple of months back, and have looked and looked but found nothing similar on the web or in my books.

Can anyone suggest a maker?  I'd imagine it's Italian, but...

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

I have the twin of your vase and this is the information I got when I posted.

Quote from: "Ivo"
clear cased amber vase with controlled bubbles - most likely from Murano, but could also be from Belgium

I still have mine, I think it is lovely. :D

Welcome to GMB,

I have a purple one that looks very similar, except with three forks that each divide into two (if that makes sense).

On the base is a 'generic' Murano label, green foil, scalloped edge.

Hi Maddy and welcome to the GMB.

I think we've noted the 'K' and crown label before: you can see details of Murano labels in Anne's accompanying web site:

Interesting that it's different to my green and silver label... :?

Hi Maddy, David, Chris and Pip,

Have a look at the label on this auction (excuse me linking to a live auction - I don't know the seller)

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7424628173

It's the same shape and font as that generic label. I wonder who Bramor is, and why the similar labels?

Cheers

Cathy

Looks very much like my label, but  I always suspected mine (and probably Chris') is probably 'generic' Murano. I can't find any meaningful link to Bramor (nore in Ivo's book) so I'm wondering if it's an dealer/distributor/importer's label?

I wonder if this topic might be best served in the Murano section.

After Googling, The "Bramor" label can also be found in red. "Bramor" also seems to be linked to a Czeckoslovakian swan, though I have not seen any labels for it yet.

I have a vase with yet a similar but different label.

Yet another slight variation of the mark as the "Handmade in Murano" bit appears together on one line.

Hi Tiger, David,
Yup, that sounds like an importer, doesn't it.

Thanks for the help, all.

I know I'm getting old and cynical, but whenever I see a label that uses the word "genuine", I get a suspicious feeling inside...

Hi Chris,
I think that generic label means that it is genuine Murano, just probably made by no-one special. Correct me if I'm wrong, someone.
Cheers,
Cathy
