Did Caithness ever produce laser etched weights? Here's one on offer:

I have seen several other "unusual" descriptions from this seller before, however.
Any comments?

Not a great picture! Have you asked about the inscription? Sellers says it is fully etched and if boxed persumably a leaflet should be there too?

These weights from this seller don't look right at all.....

I have seen the this weight in blue but without the etching and C11G on the base, my daughter sold it last year at the village summer fair.

There you go, my suspicious nature down in flames!
Good, I am glad they are right. BUT....
Why put Caithness if you know it is Dartington? It makes it look like it has been keyword spammed.
Why not explain a bit more about this artist working for Dartington?
Why not show the label/marks on the weight itself if it is right?
Why not edit your listing because it might just be a little early to buy in time for Christmas...... 8)

Perhaps he does not research in great depth and made an assumption - had he Google the label it would have been clear. The bar code possibly ID's the maker too. After all Caithness is now owned by Dartington.

Well, you are right of course. I eat humble pie, and retract any derogatory comments implied by my previous posts.
After all, as I am just checking in as I am working, I didn't google the label myself either, unlike you.
Do you think that most people associate the overall owners of a company with the collectable name though? For instance Wedgwood (http://www.brandstrategy.co.uk/issues/2006/July/__Crystal_clear_branding_/Browse.view)now own Waterford Crystal, Royal Doulton (and so Royal Albert and Minton, both owned by Royal Doulton) and Rosenthal.

Hi,
These ship weights are Caithness, they were commissioned by the Royal Mint,if I remember correctly.they are our standard PB73 (engraving blank),which we do in a variety of colours. These ones were shipped out to another company for the laser etching as we do not have that technology at our glasshouse, then signed and boxed etc by us before delivery to the Royal Mint.
