Title: Steninge Slott bowl - does anyone know who the designer might be please
Post by: flying free on May 10, 2010, 07:30:56 PM
I haven't been able to find out a huge amount about this bowl and only discovered it's provenance by accident once I took a photo of the base and could make out some very faint script.
I was wondering if anyone knew who may have designed it please?
I have found a number of pieces by Lars Sestervik but none like this one.

Many thanks for any help.

I think I have found it. I think this was designed by Lena Hansson?

I found an example for sale with a label on Steninge Slott but attributed to Lena Hansson.

Steninge Slott was an estate located near Uppsala, Sweden which was purchased by the owner of Duka, a
department store in Norway with international operations, also in Sweden. This company also purchased Lindshammar Glass Works in Sweden.

Norwegian glass designers and several designers associated with Lindshammar were used to design glass.

Lindshammer was primarily using a technique of painting on glass - Dupont paint used for boats.

A technique developed by an artist in Västervik, Sweden in conjunction with Dupont Paints Swedish subsidiary in the same Swedish town on the East Coast.

Duka closed the glass blowing operations at Steninge Slott except for a one man studio and closed Lindshammar in 2009.

Probably more information than you wanted.

Hi Bill,
thanks very much for replying  :) I appreciate it very much.  And no, definitely not too much information.  I had read about the Lindshammar (and Hadeland?)  connection on previous posts and the information on the Steninge Slott site,  but got lost trying to find out if Steninge Slott was still in business.  Then I happened on a website that was selling a bowl like mine attributed to Lena Hansson and from there came across this-(the link takes a little while to load but once it does the pics of the bowls are near the bottom of the page)

http://www.schwedentipps.se/design-und-kunsthandwerk.html
So it's called the Edge.  But it also is attributed as Lena Hansson Lindshammar, although my bowl definitely has Steninge Slott on the bottom, so I'm a little confused still.
However, it's lovely to find something completely different and from then, searching leads onto seeing some amazing pieces of glass that I wouldn't have happened across otherwise.
thanks again.

Hi There,

Just came across your above message by 'accident', researching the price of my Steninge Slott Edge Bowl, 150mm Black Design by Lena Hansson.  I have the original box and just thought I would share it w/you.
