Hi,
I am told this bowl may be by Adriano Dalla Valentina. I am trying to ID / price it.
I would sure appreciate any help along these lines.
Thanks,

I forgot to mention that I was told this is NOT Barovier. Because I did not ask permission I don't think it would be polite to quote the source, but it was a very nice and well respected collector and author. I thought it might be Parabolici.. it isn't
thanks, Wanda

Wanda, I have no idea about the bowl, but it's fascinating! Hope you find a maker soon.

Dalla Valentino is a factory that produces some nice original work, but also specialies in high quality reproductions of famous designs, including the Barovier patchworks.
They probably have a website. Wendy, did you do a web search?
Corning sells a great video called "the problem of fakes and reproductions in Murano Glass," or something like that, which shows a lot of the Valentino designs side by side with the originals.

Hi,
Thank you for making me feel so welcome!! This is the first time I have used a message board and I am relieved to know my post is of interest.
I found the lina Valentino website, but no info on their repro tessere. I guess it is a high end tourist piece then?
Books about repros is a great idea! Thank you.
There is an antique mall about 30 miles from me that has reference books available I will see what I can dig up and let you know.
I am glad the answer is not easy to find because this journey is so much fun! There are so many fascinating and beautiful pieces and you meet the nice people!!!
Thank you again, I will keep you posted.

Hi,
Welcome Wanda. I didn't know it was your first post.
The Repro lecture I mentioned is a videotape rather than a book. It was part of the Murano glass symposium that Corning hosted, and can be ordered through their website. It is a good resource.
You might try emailing a photo of your item to Valentino. They can probably give you more information.
Best of luck,
Laura

Thank you Laura,
The Corning video sounds very interesting. I will send a photo to Valentino and let you know what they say.
Bye for now, Wanda

Hi,
I think that the bowl is by Adriano dalla Valentina. at 90% he is the glassmaker.
Similar reproduction of Barovier were made also by Diego Vio and by Eros Rafael, but they make them only "on request", instead few years agoo Dalla Valentina had something in that style in his production catalogue.
Ciao

This is a great forum indeed Wanda... and I know what you mean about being a kid in the candy store... I feel like that all the time here. :)
Username cannot be changed by users or moderators sadly. It's an admin only function and depends on the board's configuration. Otherwise it means admin hacking the database. ;)

Thank you Anne!
