Title: Chinese?????????
Post by: chuggy on May 26, 2006, 09:53:22 PM
I picked this up on my jaunt to Ireland, I suppose it's Chinese, but it has loads of wear to the base which is polished flat and it was very cheap and best of all I like it. Someone put me out of my misery please!!

I reckon  it's another one like mine, Paul!  From what the experts say, it looks like a 1910 - 1930 Chinese, in the style of a Baccarat

The most important thing is that you like it, IMHO!    :D

I must admit that with the exception of my Venini and Seguso weights I really struggle to get a handle on these bloomin things, the more I read and try to follow the more confused I get, but at 3 Euros I figured this was too nice to leave behind, though I'm sure the purists would disagree.

'Purists' be damned!    I like it, too!   :D

I ask myself, "Could you make it?" and anyway, I reckon it's worth a few bob just for the aesthetic (oooh!  big words, too     ) value!   :D

Did I miss something with this PW as on e-bay it made £46 with a couple of regular P/W buyers going for it.

Hi Paul,  I think that these must be very good copies, as - like mine, which both you and I thought at first was a genuine Baccarat - it seems to be good enough to fool a few of the 'regulars'

I liked it, anyway!   :D
