I found this very well cut uranium decanter and was wondering if anyone could put a date on it or tell me who might have made it. It is in the 1830s/40 style, but the only similar (or any cut uranium) decanters I can find are about 1870s or are Bohemian. I don't think this is Bohemian as it is a very 'English' style.
The cutting is very precise, especially the star cut base. The stopper and rim have an engraved number (18), which most of my decanters have. This might be a clue to when it was made, but I don't know when they started doing this.

I would perhaps look at France too.

I found this image on the internet which is of a comport of exactly the same design. I would suggest they are by the same maker.

Mr. Vaseline is a member of the GMB. I am sure he will stop in at some point.
