Title: Czech? or other maker?
Post by: vidrioguapo on September 01, 2008, 05:40:00 PM
This is 7.5 inches  (19cms) tall, flat polished base and..er.knobbly......could it be Czech or any other maker.  Very heavy weighs 1600 gms - a lot for its size, amber coloured and cased in clear.  Looks Whitefriars"ish" but not...........

Someone has suggested it may be Murano....could this be?  I haven't seen a knobbly Murano such as this, but that counts for nothing!

This is typical of work from Skrdlovice, which may, and it is a may, then have been put into mass-production, and probably at the Chribska glassworks. This type of work came from Jan Beranek, and Jan Kotik, and in the mid-to-late 1950s and 60s, this style was very popular.

Marcus

I checked the vases on the catalog at the Beranek site, http://www.beranekglass.com/, and saw some that look similar, though not identical, to your vase. They are on the sixth page of vases.

Pretty vase,
Anita

Thank you for that link, I hadn't come across that site before and it's very interesting.
