Ray, don't know if this will help: http://www.artichoke.ca/artistDetail.php?artist=961 - you may be able to get a photocopy of the article via one of the places listed here: http://www.artichoke.ca/about.php

He's also mentioned in Andy Dohan's Signature Cane book published last year: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280213733501

It definitely is George Sarfi: last year an almost identical weight was on ebay, just blue instead of red outer "petals" - and this one included the gs cane given in Andy's cane book.

got them today, only one with the GS sig cane, the small one measures only 1.5" across, i think these must be quite rare as he only made 150 weight's in 3 yr period and there made of borosilicate glass, info from Andy Dohan's book, the flowers are not crimp but lampwork

Ray,

I'd be curious to see a photo of what you bought.  I think the figure of 150 weights is a bit high, I'm pretty sure he made less.  I'm not sure if you were able to contact him: he's changed his email address quite a bit.  If you're interested in learning more about the specifics of the weight you bought let me know and I'll put you in touch with him (I'm his son).

I bought the one with the red petals and would love any more info about Sarfi  :)

Hi all

and I got the miniature with the white petals !

This miniature weight has neither date or sig cane although the style is definitely that of George Sarfi. So I would be very grateful if mtpwt could put me in touch with George to enable me to confirm attribution.

Best regards

Derek

My book: Dictionary of Signature Cane Inclusions (both the 1997 book and the 2007 CD) have a short bio section on George Sarfi.

Hi Andy

Yes I had already read both bio's!

The only other information I can add is that apparently he sold the weights under the name Sarfi Art Glass (Canada)

I would clearly like to get a positive ID on my unsigned weight as a Sarfi hence the request for mtpwt to put me in touch with George as according to his previous post the published email address is no longer valid.

Best regards

Derek
