Title: Could this basket be Brockwitz?
Post by: lilcottageshoppe on May 26, 2007, 04:43:08 PM
Hello there, I purchased this  basket from the estate of a woman whose entire house was filled with eapg, as well as many glass steins and such from Europe.  This one has me stumped.  The only thing I can find similar is Brockwitz baskets, but cannot find anything with this pattern.  I hope I post these pics correctly....if anyone has any ideas to help me id the maker and time period, I would be ever so grateful.

Hi Lil, please do not vaste your time on investigating my pages - I haven't got it and I do not know it, I'm afraid  ::) A quality item! The handle misses a typical little 'swing' for Saxonia glass, it's quite static... jmho
Where are you situated please?

I would say a fairly certain "no" to Brockwitz.

This item is known in Carnival Glass too - no maker is yet fully confirmed. However, I have written an article about a similar basket here
http://www.geocities.com/carni_glass_uk_2000/GeorgeVI.html

and a related thread here

 :)

Edited to add - forgive me for being remiss, I should have also welcomed you to the GMB and your first posting. Welcome  :)

Thank you for your responses....I have studied both of your sites, and must commend you both, they are wonderful!  Pamela, I am in the US.

Glenn, mine is identical to yours except for the colors, but in size, attributes, etc.  I am reading the articles you posted now...thank you kindly!  These handles, like yours are definitely not applied.  Very unusual!

Welcome to the Board, Lil from US!
for a minute I thaught it could also be Radeberg - qualitywise, but it isn't after glimpsing through the books
so sad of not being of better service  :(
