This is pressed into each of the glasses, but not the jug. It is an N I think.

Duh....just looked in Ivo's book. Northwood 1908-1925, I think. (or maybe a little earlier?)

Stunning, Della. Harry Northwood's trademarked blue opalescent "Drapery" water set with gilding. Just beautiful.

ps you mentioned the date? The underlined N in a circle was used from 1905 through to around 1915. I would suggest the approx date of your set to be around 1905-8.

Your knowledge never ceases to amaze me. :idea:  :idea:
Some of the gilding has worn off, but seeing how old it is, it is probably quite understandable. For the rest, it is in lovely condition.

Hi Della - a few years ago my family were privileged to visit Harry Northwood's granddaughter at her home in Wheeling (WV). We were accompanied by Harry's great nephew.

The photo shows Harry's great nephew and his wife on the left of the shot, then in the foreground is the late Miss Elizabeth Robb (Harry Northwood's granddaughter) and on the right are Steve (standing) and me (kneeling).

Miss Robb's home had many examples of the finest of Northwood's glass. It was an incredible and unforgettable experience. Possibly the most amazing thing for me was when I was allowed to hold in my hand a miniature cameo carving of the head of Shakespeare that Harry had done when he was a student. The cameo was taken out of its locked showcase and placed into my hand. I froze. It was one of the most memorable moments of my life.

What a wonderful story Glen, and what a great experience that must have been.
I think I would have been terrified of holding such a piece, but totally honoured by being allowed to do so.
