Hi to all :)
There existed a thread here, where this one was judged as still lacking the proof that it is in fact a Walther /Scheiner piece...

I've searched again and again and could not find this thread  :twisted:

BUT finally, I have traced the holder again today in the Walther catalogue of 1934 Tafel 78
I knew it was there somewhere... :D

I think maybe it was a cafe thread and has been deleted, but well done Pamela. Does that mean there are two sorts of Nymphen candlestick? If so perhaps posting a link to the other one here as well would help in the future.

Hi Pamela - here's the thread. I remember it well - I found other pieces of the set in the catalogues but I couldn't find the candlestick, but I was convinced the entire set was Walther. Well done for finding it  :D

I'll post again later (I'll be out most of the day).

Christine and all:
it remains very difficult still:

my two figurines both have two arms up
the mermaid in Walther 1934 page 78 has ONE arm up, it is not a candlestick holder but it's carrying a bowl with 'cork' - the base is definitely same as my figurines

The figurines Leni has shown in the other thread

have a completely different shape of base and the faces in fact are less 'sweet'

As I believe I have said previously, it was the fact that these 'one arm' ladies are not so pretty which originally made me doubt if they were actually by Walther!   :shock:  :?   I have always noted how sweet the Walther ladies were!   :D

I know it has been said that these 'one arm up' ladies were actually compote carriers, but the 'set which I bought (and sold all but the tray and one chipped bowl  :roll: ) came with  two 'one arm' ladies who had clearly been bought as candle holders!    :?

No, no!  You didn't upset me, Pamela!  :shock:  Not at all!  

I do agree with you that the one arm ladies are not so pretty   :wink:  

I was just wondering if perhaps, in spite of them being indeed meant to be comport carriers, they might have been bought as candle holders?  Do you think that is possible?  I ask because the Walther Nymphen pieces I bought  as a set seemed to have been all together for some time (all being equally dusty and dirty  :lol:  :roll: ) and the 'comport carrier' ladies had definitely been used to hold candles!  Do you think they could have originally been sold, without their comports, to be used as candle holders, as an alternative to the 'two arm' ladies?

I suspect much of the Walther stuff was mix and match and multipurpose. You also see the lamp base/candle holder ladies - not sure if they'rre Walther but same idea
