Couldn't quite believe my eyes!
This is the second time I have seen this vase listed on ebay, it failed to reach reserve first time. I'd put in a very modest bid as it looked a bit crooked to me. So this time I raised my bid, but stopped after I still failed to reach the reserve. It finally sold today for $175! (about £100).
Have I missed something here??

Pat,
Assuming the label is meant to be there, Venini is one of the top Murano glass companies. This would account for the interest.
I have to agree though this seems a lot of money. I don't know if this was something they made a lot of.

Is the name of the winning bidder significant ("thelooter")?
We have a few like that here on NZ Trademe, you wonder if it is bidder frenzy or they know something that you don't. :P

Now if only all my bud vases were worth that much.....

I think maybe I can throw some light on this one. The buyer is a specialist Venini collector with whom I have dealt in the past. These vases only had a very short production life at Venini and to find a signed one or one with original label is not that common, also far more are found in red than green, so for a collector who wants one, the price isn't that daft.
Hope this helps.

Thankyou all for your comments. The label did look genuine to me and I knew that Venini was sought after, but I had no idea that it would be worth that much. That is what is so great about this board, thanks! :)
