Title: Trying to Identify Glass Birds. Belived to be Morano. Any help would be great!
Post by: Manuela on November 10, 2010, 12:04:54 AM
We found this birds at my grandmothers house and are having a very hard time identifying them. From the hours I've spent on the internet researching I've found almost nothing. The following link is close, but not exact to what they are:

All we have for markings on them is a simple "Made in Italy" and "W90" on the bottoms. Other than that we have no idea. They may be as old as the 50s or as new as the 60s. I've included pictures of the birds, the faces and the bottom markings. If anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it before I go insane. :D

Good sleuth work. You found the right company. These birds were made by Alfredo Barbini for Weil Ceramics & Glass in the early 1960s. They are worth a good bit of money if in perfect condition, so excellent find.

Oh wow! Anita is very correct about your birds.  Yours is one of the most beautiful ones I have seen yet.  Love the lattimo and gold effect.  I am green with envy.     Thanks for sharing with us.

Thank you so much for the responses! Unfortunately the head feathers on one of the birds broke off years ago and was glued on, which then managed to come loose tonight. It can be glued back and not noticed (I never knew it was) but I'm sure it'll kill value. Thank you again for the help!

Hi there, and Welcome  :rah: :rah:

i did not see a label like your here:  http://www.the-loschs.com/sigitaly.htm or in our Glass Gallery either here:  http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/thumbnails.php?album=102

I think it would be good to add that label to the Glass Gallery here:

Absolutely love it! Looks like a Aussie Cockatoo. Love the flowing effect on this. This is the type of animal I would love to own.  :hiclp:

Feel free to take the image and add it. You folks are the experts here, I'm just confused with glass.
