I recently did my first collectors fair as a seller, and with the proceeds treated myself to some special pieces. I just want to show them off!
first one is a Cyclone bowl, designed by Alistair MacIntosh, 2002.
It weighs approx 4kg (my kitchen scales don't measure that high so I had to hold it and weigh me on the bathroom scales!)
absolutely stunning. not sure that any photos can do it justice.
Also the small layer of bubbled glass under the vortex is neodymium glass.

I've just been admiring all your new Caithness bits!
You're cearly on the same wavelength as I am with Caithness - you want the big, unusual bits of fabby art glass - forget the weighty things and the blasted things and twee and pink posy vases and things to put flowers in..... get on with art of substance, something with something important to say for itself! :smg:

Yes - I agree, I don't like all the twee speckledy stuff. Problem is that friends think that is what Caithness is and buy me bits for presents - I shouldn't complain - it is nice to have friends..... ;)
Don't mind the bigger chunkier clear early pieces though! I just also bought a couple of Xanadu pieces. Haven't got them yet, but will post photos when they arrive.

I've recently acquired both red and yellow "Ebony" pieces, have had a "Peacock" vase for a while and recently grabbed an "Alchemy" pot. Got a few other great thick bits of newer stuff too - I think from about the same period as your Cyclone - 2 big chargers and a strange shaped pot thing.
I was dribbling all over the most amazing Cameo vases by Helen MacDonald at the Conference last November.....
and I'd like a "Peter & the Wolf" vase.
But a whole ton of Alchemy bits would do!

What colour Alchemy do you have? I keep looking at them but cannot decide whether I like Pewter or Gold best. I haven't got any yet. - can you post a picture?
Ebony I like the shapes , but have never actually seen one in the flesh so to speak.
And I don't even know what the Peacock range is - please tell me more......... or show me a photo if you can.
As for Peter and the Wolf - I'm probably the worlds least competitive person, but I could be fierce for one of those!

My Alchemy is gold - I still need a pewter piece.
I can't find the Peacock on SG. Perhaps I've got the name wrong. I know there's an image of the vase there - but I don't know how to find it. I have trawled and trawled, zilch.
It's got a clear green inside layer, - and a white splodgy layer inside that - which gives rise to a textured "feel" to the whole vase. - It has a blue, surface decorated exterior, with silvery, iridescent streaky feathery pulled bits around the base.

I've discovered my "Peacock" is actually called "Salome", designed by Philip Chaplain, (but I still can't find it on the site.) I spoke to my wee brother, who has the book.
I need the book.
And a cameo carved "Ivy" vase by Helen MacDonald.

Salome is in the book - looks stunning!
And a Helen MacDonald carved vase! Ivy is not shown in the book but there are catalogue photos of some other carved ones - they look incredibly intricate.
I can see I need to be a seller more often to raise more money to buy some of these fabulous pieces. That's if they can be found that is!

Oh Sue they are gorgeous. The Salome particularly appeals - I will have to look out for some of that! Impact I have not heard of - was that a range or another one off do you think? Lucky you to live so close to the source of all this stuff.

No, Impact was a particular range - I'm fairly sure it appeared around the same time as your Cyclone vase - as did the charger above.
I saw a load of them, brand new, in a local jeweller's/gift shop place - same with Alchemy. I thought they were quite superb, but I found mine later. The point of studying the new stuff was to be able to recognise it elsewhere!
I've got a triangular "Free-style" charger too - just no pics of it. :-[
