Title: Erik Hoglund lamp

I was really pleased when i found this today but no-one else in my family appreciates it. Looks like it will be moving on soon.
I'm fairly certain the glass is by Hogland can anyone help with date or any more information. Has anyone seen similar lamps? It looks as if the pieces were made to go together. The brass part is marked E B (with M under & a torch in the middle)Made in Sweden.                                      

All help much appreciated.

Those photographs are downright pointless. Next time better take the item outside in daylight to shoot it.
On the subject of that lamp, however, yes a similar lamp was queried several months ago on the Swedish website Antikprat/glas/konstglas and the general conclusion was that yes indeed the lamp is by Höglund. Not quite sure when - I think it was from the seventies.

I saw a glass plaque with an identical little figure on it in a charity shop recently.  I considered buying it - it was only pennies - but couldn't think what it was for!  Thank you! Now I know  :shock:  :roll:   :lol:

Sorry to upset you with the quality of photos Ivo. It was the best light i could find last night. I hope these are better.
Thanks for the info, ive had a look at the website you mentioned. I cant find the thread about the lamp yet but ill look again.

I love this lamp.  Erik Hoglund also designed chandelier style lights with this type of impressed glass designs hanging loose.  I wouldn't mind one of those!   :D  The same little stylised man also occurs in his paperweight/bowls in various colours.

Shame you don't have a pair of lamps though!   :wink:

I like the lamp but its not the best illuminator! I tried a bulb in it, too much metal surrounding it to work well with the dark orange glass.
Ive just found examples of the glass panels, they were being sold as individual paperweights (both in blue and white).

Hi,
 I knew a little about Hoglund when i bought it, though had nothing by him. I was looking at a small pendant of his when the dealer brought the lamp out of a box. I just hoped the lamp would work better as a functional item. But the glass looks far more impressive out of the lamp.

The blue one can be seen on a Google image search for Erik Hoglund. I cant find the best site , forgot to save it as a favourite.

The paperweights are quite common.  The lamp isn't.

Whatever you do, don't be tempted to break up the lamp for the glass!  :lol:

I think the point of these lamps is that they're only supposed to light up the glass, rather than the space around around them, with some effectiveness as a downlighter. It would be displayed best hung at eye-level over a sideboard or small dining table.  :) You can buy elongated bulbs from specialist lighting shops which would probably better show off the glass via back-lighting.

Fantastic find - I wish I had one... or two!

I agree, the lamp stays whole . Though I must admit I thought about it for a moment or two when I took the glass out for cleaning. Probably because i thought at first that it was a 'made up' piece. But finding the made in Sweden and manufacturers mark made me revise that opinion.  Ill clean it up find a replacement for the missing nut and hope that it will be looked on more favourably by the family. If not it may be my first ever sale on Ebay.
Does this mark on the metal part mean anything to anyone?

It will be the manufacturer of the lamp. Boda would probably just have supplied the glass. Holmegaard did the same for Le Klint, and Kastrup for Fog & Mørup.

Can't think who EB might be, unfortunately. I shall leaf through some of my reference materials later if no one comes up with a solution!  :)
