Thought you might find this one interesting, I have found John Monteath so far in an 1882-83 Glasgow directory listed as wholesale stationers 26 St. Vincent Pi. Glasgow. Don't know what the Pi is maybe should be Pl as there is a St. Vincent Place in Glasgow and St. Vincent street. I'm assuming attributing a maker to these advertising weights is pretty difficult?

Hi Nick
I think 'pretty difficult' is a fair description. Many factories that made clear glass bottles etc could have set up to make them, so I think you are talking hundreds of possible factories around the UK over the period that these were produced. There were probably a few factories that made the majority, but I do not recall seeing any references to them. Others GMB members may well know more though, as this is a specialised field of collecting.

Many of the general 19th and early 20th C glass catalogues show plain glass paperweight in various shapes. Given the location of the company it was made for, I would say Scottish is not impossible. There were plenty of suitable manufacturers
