In my search for Cato and Orlak by Chance Glass . One pattern came out on top and you see it everywhere . Look like there is always one in every High Street and car boot.
That is Lotus Fruit Bowl.
-
Odd that you should say that Ming, but it's one design I don't have, nor do I see many around. I see more Spiderweb than any up here in Cumbria.
-
Anne
There are a lot Lotus Bowl around here. Only cost either 50p or £1 each normally. But not coloured. At least 5 to 1 when compare with Spiderweb or Britannia.
-
No Lotus here either in Cheshire. Don't think I've ever seen it. That might mean that most of it was sold from the factory shop, given where you are Ming.
-
Fairly certain I haven't seen a pic. of Lotus, but as I don't yet have the book is there any possibility of a picture please? Paul S.

thanks indeed, very much appreciated, and I will keep my eyes open. Paul S.

Here is an idea. How about me buying all the Lotus fruit bowls here and ship them to the North and made a million. Ha! Ha!
-
We'll banish you to the Market Place if you dare do that Ming! :24:

Saw another Lotus fruit bowl this weekend for a pound. We should rename the pattern " Rabbit" for you know what reason.

Hey Ming I live in Rowley, not to far from Brum how come all I ever see is bits and pieces of Fiesta ware, usually with missing lids or chips, and the odd hanky vase, always overpriced???Keith.

Hi Keith
Actutally most of my Chance glasses came from charity shops in the Black Country. Better hunting ground than Birmingham. Also its easiler for me to go there than other part of B,ham as l only live next to Sandwell.
Forget Smethwick as there is no charity shop in Smethwick High St as it now become an Asian area.
P.S. Black Country is around West Bromwich,Dudley,Smethwick area.

Although I was born in Brum I've lived in the Black Country all my life(sad)and still have trouble finding good Chances stuff!Keith.
-
I seem to have oodles of it!
-
Both my grandfather and his brother worked at Chances the only thing they 'left' was a tray with a Greek pattern,it's in 'Chance Expressions' page 56,the square one, although I do now have a number of other pieces it's taken quite awhile to collect;which towns do you go to?Keith.
-
The best charity shops for Chance hunting are West Bromwich, Dudley, Black Heath and Bearwood. But most important all is Luck because l find the best Chance in B'ham -two Green Leaves Diamond Trays.

That's interesting. Do you have any other memorabilia, like paperwork, booklets, or copies of the in-house magazine 'Chance Comments'? I would be very keen in seeing anything you have.
Also, if you have any relatives who can recall any snippets of information, that could be helpful.
