Title: Murano?
Post by: adam20 on June 04, 2013, 01:57:58 PM
Just bought from an old house collection. Posting as I think it's Murano, not sure of factory. Very heavy and beautifully made. Needs a good clean. 10 inches high. Any suggestions welcomed.

The closest I an get is this http://www.antiquehelper.com/item/352579 but I don't where they get the attribution.

Very nice.  I agree it is very possibly Murano.  I wonder what the stopper looked like?

Yes it would have had a stopper. The previous owner was using it as a vase.

I think it was made here, in Murano.
"Sommerso" glass is the related technique.
Seguso was probably the most famous glassmaker using that style, but many others make pieces very similar (formia, Oball, Tosi...)
I see no signature on the bottom. I suppose the production not very recent, due to now normally they feature an engraved signature.

Sincerely
