Ciao Alberto

It is very hard to tell if these are indeed genuine Murano or not just by looking at them.  To me, they lack the finesse and overall finish of Murano glass fish but this is not to say they indeed aren't.  I can't remember any Murano makers producing vaseline glass so this also leads me to beleive that they may not be or Venetian origin.  They eyes have been impressed rather than individually applied which is also another possible sign these are indeed not Murano.

Lovely pieces none the less and well done for picking them up.

Hope this helps

Dean

Ciao Alberto

This fish could possibly by Czechoslovakian in origin as the techniques used are very similar in some circumstances but the quality of Murano Glass if far superior.  My gut instinct by type is that it may be an older design by a company called Rikaro who produce these type of figurines.

With regards to my role in the company, I am the CEO and owner so please feel free to visit our site and provide us with your feedback

Kindest Regards

Dean

Oh, dear  :spls:... uranium glass was used frequently on Murano. And eyes were impressed just about as often as they were applied. I feel your fish is Murano. I didn't answer because I didn't know who made it. Several companies did fish that look similar. I recognize the base from somewhere and searched my files, but could not locate it. I have seen it quite a few times. Without any further evidence, I would say most likely a very nice vintage Murano fish.

It's not Czech. The Czechs did make fish, however, and they're very well made. Google EXBOR fish for a look.  I' m with Anita in thinking it's Murano.

I'll fourth that. That base I have seen on a few birds, one I saw at the charity shop with the generic murano label. If one pops up on aussie ebay I will post a link. I have seen a few crop up over the year.

And eyes were impressed just about as often as they were applied.

Just so. Details of two V. Nason sculptures:
