Hello, I have this obviously Scandinavian etched vase, very high quality etching and polishing, and it is signed, but I do not recognize the maker:
-
Can find no name similar in an extensive list off Wikipedia. No real surprise. Apparently engraver's were able to but blanks off various larger companies and use their own studio name. I can make out (I believe) SLASG*ARY / GLASG*ARY as a studio name but the * letter is too badly scratched. The AK is probably the engraver and I notice an AK = Ake Karlsson engraved at Orrefors from 1924 - 1945. Perhaps it was his own personal shop at a later date?
This site looks like it might be some help as well http://www.glassfromsweden.com/history-of-swedish-glass.html .
Very nice piece would happily have it my collection if I had found it.

Hello, thanks for that information, whoever etched this was an expert
-
I have sent the same photos over to the website you suggested. I hope they can help....
-
The search should not be limited to just Sweden - engraved glass in the swedish style has been made, sometimes with bewildering signatures, in Norway, Belgium and in Hungary.
-
it's swedish for sure. It says GLASGRAVYR(Engraved glass)
-
So, we need to know who AK was then....
-
Aha independent engraving studio using blanks from Kosta, Orrefors or Skruf. That will not be easy ID.
-
The mystery deepens...
-
there were tons of small engraver cabins
-
Hello, the people over at Glass From Sweden id the engraver as Ake Hugo Karlsson, who worked at Orrefors from 1925-1945. Mystery solved!
-
so - do they think this is an Orrefors vase?
-
it's not for sure.
