I like this shape - it's hollow right down to the foot. Would hold almost a bottle of wine if used as a glass.
Nice for a nibbles holder though, but who makes them? (the glass not the nibbles!)
Looks Scandi or possibly Dartington-ish; not much wear to base, no pontil, no ID marks at all. It's quite tall - almost 8 inches tall, lovely clear glass and a bit of a ding to it when tapped.
Does anyone recognise the design please? http://yobunny.org.uk/gallery1/displayimage.php?pos=-643

It has a Holmegaard-ish shape to it... but I'm no expert.

If I had to vote between either Dartington or Scandi, I'd vote Dartington as I don't recognise this overblown upper shape as particularly Scandi. Having said that, I'm not sure it's Dartington either.
8" is big though isn't it?! A mystery item indeed! 8)

My feeling is more Dartington than Scandi but I don't know why really. In the absence of hard evidence I'm comparing it with other known pieces in a hunt for clues.

it seems to whisper Krosno to me - clear, heavy, functional, fine quality semicrystal, unfrivolous.....
-
Oooh Ivo, that's a thought. I hadn't considered Krosno for this, thank you. It does have some similiarities to the Krosno pieces I've seen so I'll go rummage and see what I can find. I was only talking Krosno with Peter last night as well!

Just tying up loose ends. Does anyone (Nic) recognise this?

I'm pretty sure its a Dartington rose bowl, I have one packed up somewhere with a label if I can find it I will confirm. Paul

Hi Anne.. Bingo.. just checked my notes and it is a Dartington Rose Bowl
designed by the great man himself in the 1970s pattern no FT171.

Paul thank you! Good to have a maker at last, and thanks Cathy for resurrecting this one. Sadly the bowl is no more - it was found cracked in two in the cupboard some time ago, so was popped into the recycle bin along with some empty wine bottles. Who knows what it's forming a part of now. ;D
