Just leafed through the catalogues... no Arctic Blue for this pattern... or Willow, as far as I can see... So Pewter it is, c.1969.

There's a nice group photo of some Pewter glass HERE (http://www.whitefriarsorg.org/P8070367.JPG)

Ray, it looks like Ocean Green to me - I have one exactly the same shape and colour - mine is anyway - it has a light greeny tinge to it.

The one piece of Ocean Green I own has a much duller subdued colour to it.

I can only spot this size vase in the 1964. 66 & 69 catalogues.... 1964/66 lists Blue, Green & Ruby, cased in clear... 1969 lists Kingfisher, Pewter Ruby.

Unless I'm missing something glaringly obvious? :D

No worries Ray.  The proper WF colour name is Ocean Green and I'm not saying that's definitely what it is but for comparative purposes here's a link to my vase, which I can now see is a different shape to yours, but the colour looks the same and I've always been under the impression mine is Ocean Green ... but I'm often wrong

I always thought that this was Ocean Green:

But, as I said, I've only got the one piece... so I'm not exactly an Ocean Green colour expert!

What colour is my bowl then?

It's not the best shape to get a photograph of the colour, but it's a very subdued dusky green.

Hi Nic, Ocean Green replaced Sea Green in 1958.......... I think your bowl is pre '58 so is Sea Green.  Hope this is of help. Regards patrick.

That's odd - the bowl (patt 9564) doesn't pop up until the 1960 catalogue. I only have the WFOrg.org online catalogues to work from, and I can't make out which colourways it was produced in that year.

I'd definitely agree that it was Sea Green, though, after comparing it with the colour of this decanter: http://www.whitefriars.com/contents.php?ID=240 (the colour on my bowl came out quite dark on the photo because of the shape, but the thicker parts are identical in tone to this)

Hi Nic, I think the highest pattern no. in the 1957 cat is 9497.
The 9564 was probably designed and made in late 1957 or early 58 and therefore in the then Sea Green.
When I get back from London I will let you know the exact week in 1958 they changed over to Ocean Green....... The workbooks of Harry Dyer and Frank Hill show Ocean Green's introduction.
 Regards Patrick

what are  the rare colour from whitefriars?

I think Pewter is generally considered rare(r), as it was only used for a short while, but generally the rarity of a colour changes according to the pattern of the piece in question. One vase pattern may have had a 10-15 year production span in, say, Ruby, but another pattern may have only been available in Ruby for a couple of years.
