Hi
Can anyone tell me anything about this little vase, I have been told it could be by Salviati ?
Thankyou Nicky

it's got a bimini look to it, are they very light?

Definitely looks like Bimini to me!

:? I'm not so sure - how big is it?
The glass looks a bit thick for Bimini, unless it's a really, really tiny piece. I'm also not so sure about the twisted spirals in it. Or the clear handle bits. In fact, it does not say Bimini to me at all!

Must admit I had assumed it was tiny! Good question, Sue

:? Looking at it enlarged, it becomes clear that the handles are quite unbalanced, I don't think the workmanship is good enough for Bimini. Also, is there a repair on one handle?

Hi
Just to add that the vase is small about 115mm in height, it is not that really thin glass I guess for its size it is quite thick 1.5 - 2mm, it has no damage to it at all it must be a trick if the light.
Thanks
Nicky

:D Good that there's no damage - it was on the close-up, enlarged, but I can see how it came about that I wondered.
Are the handles of differing thicknesses, or is that also an artifact (I love that word, but it's better pronounced "fartiact" - just soo-ooo descriptive!) of the picture?

I'd agree with Sue.
I have a similar piece to Nicky's (pink cannes and aventurine spiral) and the comparisons to this vase are quite striking. I have had early Bimini pieces pass through my hands as well and they are soooo light and fragile
I purchased this as 'Murano' but would leave this to a true expert to identify!
Will post a picture in about half-an-hour - gotta dash!

And here's the Bimini vase I had, which was just 5" (12.5cm) tall:

5" ? That's *BIG*! My 'Bimini' ( :?: ) vases are about half that size! http://tinypic.com/al57qx.jpg http://tinypic.com/al57xi.jpg

Well, size isn't everything... :P
But I was trying to indicate that Bimini pieces are normally much smaller than the photos would imply. Whether 5" is large, small or medium, I'm not really qualified to say.

Hi Sue
In reply to your question, yes you are right the handles are of a different thickness.
