Title: Two abstract paperweights
Post by: Lustrousstone on July 14, 2007, 02:52:58 PM
One I'm fairly sure is Chinese (only 50p) but I would like confirmation that it is older rather than new. It has a frosted irregular bottom and slightly yellowish glass top (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b217/lustrousstone/IMG_1380.jpg) bottom (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b217/lustrousstone/IMG_1379.jpg) side (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b217/lustrousstone/IMG_1378.jpg)

This I don't think is Chinese - shiny round bottom, slightly pinkish glass and you can feel rippling in the glass
top (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b217/lustrousstone/IMG_1377.jpg) bottom (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b217/lustrousstone/IMG_1376.jpg) side (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b217/lustrousstone/IMG_1375.jpg)
Any ideas please?

I think the bottom one could be Portugese.

All the portugese paperweights I have seen (not very many) have had the same decor.
I have saved a picture of an almost identical one from a previous eBay auction,
complete with the label "Made in Portugal", but I cannot post that due to copyright.

Thanks.

I agree.  The second one is from Portugal.  I've had some in the past with labels.

Is the first one Bohemian please?

Not sure about the first one, could be "Bohemian" - or more modern Czech.

Or might not be either
