Title: Would this vase be Murano?
Post by: Catisfaction on August 27, 2006, 05:37:23 PM
Gorgeous cranberry red vase, applied thing around the neck. Looks like it either has elongated bubbles in the surface of the glass or it's a panel optic, my eyes are having trouble telling what it is.
ground n polished pontil.

It's possible, but I'd also look at contemporary Bohemian glass.

Thanks Laura,

Any hints or tips from distingishing the difference? Art glass is not my strong point.

Hmm. The base looks different from most Murano glass I've seen. Also, the clear rim around the neck looks, at least in the photo, a bit too perfect to have been applied by hand.  Otherwise, the shape looks Italian, so it is possible.

Well that clears that one up then lol.

This is why I prefer signed art glass ;)
