Title: Engraved fish vase.
Post by: palo400 on February 24, 2011, 12:31:48 PM
Hello
Engraved fish vase standing 15.5cm high 1cm thicked walled piece.
Signed on the base, but struggling to make it out.
Looks like a EW or EN somewhere near the end of markings.
Long shot but any help.
Cheers.

Probably Strombergshytten not sure about the spelling but near enough, they do lots of fish vases , I believe it means the house of Stromberg .

Thanks John, but most Stromberg engraved stuff I've come across had the chamfered rims and I cannot make out a S at the start of the markings on the base.
Cheers anyway.

Hi: My thought on looking at it was Stromberg. Not all of them have that chamfered lip and their designs did include fish (I suppose all companies did). I couldn't make out the writing, though, which isn't a good sign. If it is Stromberg, there should be a B followed by one to to three numbers, to indicate vase and the production number.

My thought was a SEA blank engraved by one of the independent engraver shops around Kosta town.
