Title: Seguso dish/bowl??
Post by: BRADBURY7308 on November 04, 2009, 07:13:42 PM
Having listed two pieces of glass on the general message board and them turning out?? to be murano i thought id stick my neck out with the third on here and see if my hunch is correct or near to the mark im a novice glass enthusiast! This piece is a fairly weighty bowl at 700g it measures 7" wide and is 2.5" tall approximate! The colour is a nice amber/treackle brown on the majority with a thin yellow secondary border and finaly the clear at the edge has a fair amount of wear to the polished base. Ive had a fish attributed maybe as seguso and when looking at items on ebay id seen a similar bowl different colour named as seguso. I wonder is my hunch correct or is it not murano at all thankyou very much for looking at this thread.

Has the rim been pulled in???...or is it just my eyes due to the amber colour being darker at the rim???...

Yes kane the rim is pulled in , There is like a slight lip. I dont suppose its a seguso but i just thought it was worth buying for £1? Preety un-remarkable i guess.

1 quid is always a good price... ;D...the cheapest one I have bought was for $A2...highest is $A15 at flea markets...I only have one pulled rim bowl in my collection though...see pics (and excuse the water droplet in one of the pics - it needed a clean)...i think mine is a Seguso piece...but i need further clarification on that...i don't think your is though (just by the colour i think)...although it is still a very good piece...i haven't seen one with an extra layer (yellow)...i think the pulled rims may have been made from the late 50's onwards...i just love these bowls...LOL... :chky:

-I can't buy anymore though...LOL...
