Title: Glass mark RW on crown tuscan colored mini butter dish
Post by: glasschalice on January 28, 2007, 10:49:02 PM
Hi,

Does anyone know what the mark on this butter dish indicates?  The crown tuscan color of the glass is very typical of Mosser and Boyd that I have handled.  The pattern seems to be a copy of the Heisey "Winged Scroll" pattern often found in custard glass.  I'm looking for the maker's name, pattern name and correct color name.  The base measures 5" wide and it only stands about 3" tall with the lid on.

I found it!!  Bennett Glass Company and the RW is the mold maker's mark.  Here's a discussion about it.  It's on the second page:

Hello Cheryl

You are on the right track. This was made by Bennett Glass of Cambridge, Ohio.  Have a look at page 2 of this Heisey newsletter:

Too cool!  I love it when things fall into place.
