Title: Swedish face lamp, by Eneryda
Post by: BJB on September 22, 2007, 04:35:41 PM
Hi All,

Have just come back from a carboot with this really stunning lamp. It has three faces/sides and has a label on the side saying Eneryda Sweden

http://i17.tinypic.com/4pkha3d.jpg

Has anyone heard of the company, it looks very Michael Bang looking with the faces but I have no idea who its by.

Any ideas?

Barbara

Wow, that's an impressive lump of glass. Not really what I would call Bang-eque, but fun nonetheless.

I suspect that it might not have started life as a lamp, though - or at least not with those fittings.

Hi Nic,

The bottom white plastic bit is original, and it has a hole in the bottom corner for the cord to go through, but the top muckey white bit is not original.

However it is held on by plaster of paris and if I get it off the middle screw will fall into the base. The clean white bit is stuck so am leaving it alone.

It stands an impressive 14" tall.

Am I right in thinking 1960's?

If the plastic is original, I'd say late 1970s - 1980s. Anything earlier and I'd expect to see brass and/or bakelite.

Gorgeous piece  :o

I have been trying to find out a little about this company for a while now, as I have two labelled vases of theirs. The best information that I have so far is that Heino Jacobsson was a glassblower for Eneryda. I have finally found a website: http://www.vastsverige.com/templates/article____9167.aspx
Maybe he will be as kind as some of the other glassblowers have been and help with information on your piece. His email address is given at the bottom of the linked to page.

Hi Della,

It really is stunning, one of those things that stand out a mile on a stall  ;D .

Many thanks for the link, I did google it but most sites either came up in Swedish or were about a place called Eneryda.

I will e-mail him tomorrow along with a photograph and let you know if he replies, hope he reads English as my Swedish is non existant  :-[

Hey Barbara x

Great looking piece of glass!  I wonder if you noticed we have a new facility under the box where you post a new thread or reply?  You can upload your pics direct from your computer.   :D   I'd like to preserve your photo's...can I upload them to GlassGallery as usual?

Cheers.

Hi Max,

Here is the label from the lamp, hope you can do something with it.

Kev,

Thanks for the links, there doesn't seem to be much on the company. I wonder if its because lables were used rather than signing the pieces, and they have fallen off ?

I think this label http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-6196 is interesting as it states  FM Konstglas Eneryda - label was uploaded by Ingela, and she says, "This is the first label from FM Konstglas, dated 1961. In 1962 they moved production to Ronneby." I've mailed her to see if she can add more to the topic.

Hi,

FM started their production in the town of Eneryda in 1961 and moved to
Ronneby in 1962.

FM Konstglas and Eneryda Glasbruk are two separate glassworks.

I do not know much about Eneryda glasswork. I googled it but found very little information.
Eneryda Glasbruk was founded in 1956 (in Eneryda) and closed down
in 1992. In 1997 most of the factory building was destroyed in a fire.

This label in the Glassgallery is as far as I know an early one, maybe from
the 1960's?

The label on this lamp seem to be a more recent one.

Hi:

Eneryda Glass Studio is located at
Mellangatan 10
Eneryda, Sweden

Two people work at the studio headed by Hans Sengas and can be reached by telephone at 0476 224 44

I cannot find a web site for this small Swedish glass studio.

Hi Bill,

It is correct that Hans Senges started up after Eneryda Glasbruk closed down in 1992.

Please note that Eneryda Glass Studio is not the same as Eneryda Glasbruk.

Here is the website:

Glass from Eneryda Glasbruk was sold in a shop called GLASBODEN

1992 - Hans Senges took over GLASBODEN
1994 - Hans Senges started his glass studio GLASHYTTAN (next to the shop)
2005 - GLASHYTTAN closed down in the autumn of 2005
GLASBODEN is still open
2007 - in May Johanna and Björn Senges takes over GLASBODEN under
the new name of GLASGÅRDEN I ENERYDA

Hi Ingela:

Thanks for the information. On Sunday, while traveling to Germany we traveled on a major highway near Älmhult which had a sign stating Glashytta in Eneryda.

I guess the Swedes are slow in taking down their road signage.

Best

I have one of these two and its designed as a lamp, so no modification has been done.

These were also sold through Flygsfors. I would say that it was designed between 1965-1975.

There is information on Eneryda on a Swedish tourism website at : http://eneryda.net/sida5.html

Scroll down to the 1950's. Google and Babel Fish translate webpages.
