Title: Unknown Jug with Gempo Giftware label
Post by: selina on April 19, 2007, 10:08:13 AM
I got this lovely jug at a garage sale and hadnt properly looked at the label. I picked it out thinking it was Italian and caught a quick glimpse of the label and thought made in Japan. So....the label actually says Gempo Giftware and Im guessing this is just the store it was sold in and not the origin. (Feel free to use the label if it can aid in any way )

Can anyone shed any more light on the maker or the label?

The jug stands 26cm high, smooth base, clear hollow applied handle. The outside of the jug has a rippled twist effect.

Sorry..having done some more research..Gempo Giftware have been importing into Australia since the 1950's. Now known as Gempo Living and still operating. So the style of the ruby coloured jug is the only way I can tell where it was from ie if someone recognises the style. I dont know when they changed their name so date is unknown also.

Thanks,
Selina
