Title: Caithness Fireball?
Post by: adam20 on October 15, 2011, 09:14:34 AM
I have looked at this image in the Caithness Collectors Book (2nd Edition) pp51 many times and it doesn't seem to conform to my Fireball paperweight. Excellent book and most likely I have it wrong or angle of picture is misleading.

See Photos

Listed as CT305 Fireball 1983 by Colin Terris - book image is ball with flame of glass - mine is central envelope of glass in red/pink glass.

Maybe there is some give and take re production.

Thanks Adam

On ScotlandsGlass you find the colour image of Fireball (http://www.scotlandsglass.co.uk/cms/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=3355&category_id=50&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=6) taken from the "Caithness Guide" - same view as in Charlton. Single views are often difficult to compare - but the colour of your weight seems to be alright.

Thanks Wolf - I forgot about Scotland Glass website and that's a better image - it still looks different but I'm satisfied as you suggest colourwise that it is the same weight - techniques probably varied slightly in the making.

Thanks Adam
