Title: Odd little Amber flask with raspberry prunts - any ideas?
Post by: josordoni on September 05, 2006, 05:34:10 PM
Here is another one for you to cast your expert eyes over please...

Golden amber in colour approx 7 ins tall.  It is so uneven in form I reckon it is either old, or made to deceive

Goodness!  I think I like your colour better...

No , not a lot of wear.  The Spanish suggestion is interesting, I wonder if it held some kind of liquid for the tourist market? With a sealed cork in the top?

The more I look at it, the less I think it is anything nice.  I mean I like it, sort of, but I couldn't call it NICE....

Shame about my photo, I was having a bad photo day.

Isn't strapping a difficult thing to do? It's sunk into the glass. Why go to this length for a tourist piece?

Just wondering... and hoping.

Maybe by making the dents in the glass first, a less experienced worker could pipe the glass in like icing?

Perhaps they applied the glass on top of the vase, then blew it into a mould? Then applied the prunts over the top.
