Title: My Favorite - Yellow Opaline Scent Bottle
Post by: Connie on February 06, 2006, 10:59:21 AM
I think I mentioned this one when I posted my set of pink opaline bottles.

This is my favorite of my new acquisitions.  I love yellow and this is such a lovely lemony opal color.

 Bottle  (http://www.glassmavenhaven.com/connie/yelscent1.JPG)

 Solid Ball Stopper  (http://www.glassmavenhaven.com/connie/yelscent2.JPG)

You can see the light through the top part  (http://www.glassmavenhaven.com/connie/yelscent3.JPG)

Cut edge on lip and again shows the translucent nature of the glass  (http://www.glassmavenhaven.com/connie/yelscent6.JPG)

 Stopper out of bottle (http://www.glassmavenhaven.com/connie/yelscent7.JPG)

 Bottom (http://www.glassmavenhaven.com/connie/yelscent8.JPG)

It is 5.75 inches tall without stopper, 7 5/8 in. tall with stopper, and the stopper is 2" in diameter of solid glass.

Country or origin? Maker?

Thanks!

There is a good chance this is a Vallerysthal or Portieux piece.  You will also find it has that hidden bonus of glowing under a blacklight (anyway, pretty sure, but you will have to check it)!

The two companies made a lot of glass in that yellow translucent color.

Thank you, Dave.  I will have to blacklight it when I get home.  I didn't get any hit of luminescence when I was photographing it.

Dave - you are absolutlely correct.  It does fluoresce under UV light.  I tested it when I got home.

Any clue where I might find more information on this piece?
