Title: "Edinburgh" looks like Flli Toso?
Post by: Ivo on August 27, 2012, 06:50:18 AM
Here is a little weight which screamed quality. It came in a presentation box which says "Edinburgh"and "International", "hand made" and "īmported". My first thought was Fratelli Toso - could that be? The diameter is only 6 cm, which is a fraction over 2"...

Edinburgh International paperweights were imported from Murano - not sure which factory made them. Most of the ones I have seen had decent enough canes, however the concentric circles were less than perfect - bit like the one you show, where they have used uneven sized blue canes which has distorted the set-up a little.  So they may be canes from one (good) factory assembled in another less careful one.

I think various retailers have imported cheap Murano and re-badged them, over the years.

I also picked up one of these recently, magnum size at 90mm diameter and would be a nice weight if it wasn't for the broken and misaligned canes, such a shame.
