I've seen these vases described as Val ST Lambert and Czech, do the experts fancy a vote on this? Cheers, Gill

I've seen smaller pieces in this pattern marked
'Made in Czechoslovakia'
So My vote is Czech
Cheers

Thankyou very much Mike!

Just to muddy the waters slightly, Pamela has a pink clear vase in this pattern listed as VSL on her wonderful website here: http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/vasen/02640.html
and when I was at the 1st Northern Glass Fair last year (in Harrogate) there was a lady with a whole stall full of this stuff (mainly amber), which she had marked as Czech - some of them can be seen here:
http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-294
I know we have discussed these before - see thread here for thoughts at that time: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,2196.0.html

And I'll muddy the waters even more - I suspect there is another maker (that isn't Czech and isn't VSL). More about this when I can confirm further.

I'd also like to add that it is not without precedent that more than one factory should produce the same pattern. Two examples for now (there are more):
Brockwitz and Eda Glasbruks produced "Rose Garden" (Rosor / Rosas) items. There are specific details surrounding this.
Sowerby and Inwald produced "Pinwheel" - also a third manufacturer is very possible. Again, there are specific details.

Wow everyone, thanks! Had a look at the links, difficult to say isn't it, I must admit they "seemed" Czech to me before I saw Pamela's site, very interested in the third alternative Glen.

Andy McConnell has a pink one marked Czechoslovakia. page 18 20th Century Glass

Hi to all!
Just a short notice on this one: my pressglas-pavillon site is not up to date unfortunately, especially in this item!
latest news from Hamburg is: it is NOT VSL
(I've returned from a short holiday trip an hour ago - it's nice to be back here! :D )
-
Thanks for the HOT news Pamela :D
-
Good to see you back Pamela, hope you have a great holiday. Thanks for the update on the VSL attribution... that had me puzzled and I was hoping you'd come and explain it for us. :) So, VSL it's not, which makes Czech seems more likely - unless Glen can tell us differently when she knows more.
-
I may explain: I had visitors to my museum nearly two years ago who told me it is VSL in any case - I was so thankful for ANY attribution at that time, the result of this beautiful forum is: obviously misattributed - I beg to apologize for that!
THIS is not VSL - as far as we know at present date:

Regardless of where they're from, they are truly beautiful. The amber-colored piece is especially stunning.
-
Thanks again everyone! Looks like they're Czech then, yes they are lovely, and guess what, I picked up a bowl today in uranium, could post a pic if anyone interested, I LOVE Pamela's site too!
-
Here's the uranium bowl :)

I know Glen has been very busy, but hope she can spare time to reveal all now
-
I can confirm that these are Czech, Carl Stölzle, Hermanshütte..... pattern number will await a posting of the dimensions.

Marcus
-
Thank you. Does that include all the bowl, plate and jug variants. i.e., was it a range of stuff?
-
Hi Christine, there were 42 items in the range, and many size variants also.
Sorry, this all comes from info gathered in the last ten days, but I am trawling older threads first, to try to help you, Pamela, and others, with long-standing unknowns.....
Regards,
Marcus

It's great info Marcus, thank you
-
:hiclp:
thank you Marcus, leaving for the museum for measurements :-*
-
Just for comparison, here are the items I was referring to in the previous posts. They are bowls and plates from Stolle Niemen (Poland), 1926-35).

Thanks for this Glen, certainly then multiple manufacturers.
I know from the Stolzle pattern numbers they are similar period of design, though made well into the 1950s.

Marcus

Hmm, now how do we tell the difference?

These two topics need linking as they both have the same answer, thanks Marcus http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,2598.0.html
