Title: Identification Help Please.
Post by: Martello on February 20, 2011, 11:46:29 AM
I have had this paperweight for 35 years and I know the previous owner had it for a while before that. Can anyone tell me who made it and a date please.

Sorry about the size of these photos. I am technically challenged so haven't a clue how to reduce the size.

This looks like a 1950-70's Chinese weight to me, bright and pretty colours.
Nice

Glassheart is correct, Martello.  Your cheery weight is Chinese although I am not sure if it might date a bit earlier that the 50's-70's.  Your weight has what appear to be three interesting canes .... two butterflies and one rose.  There are others here who can say for sure about these canes and what they are.

Thank you so much for replying.

Now you say that I have had a closer look and as you say Lily I can now see a butterfly. Before I just thought it was a load of colourful splodges.

Am going to study it a bit harder and try and work out what else is there. Don't think I'll be putting it in my next boot fair for 50p!
