Title: Can someone Check this out ?
Post by: ParkerFmly on September 24, 2005, 04:10:25 AM
I have this glass piece and would like to know what you all think, where this thing ( bowl, dish ? ) may have originated or who might have made this piece.
By going thru some very helpful links in another post I think that the piece was created using the Murrine Applicato technique on Opaque white glass / with gold / silver foil then overlaid with colorless glass. The dish has a 1 CM clear glass coating. It measures 9 inches

Thank you all in advance for any help you can give me on this.

Jessica

I also have this other vase that I already have listed on EBay that I am unsure of I know its from Italy cause the little sticker says so LOL.

I can't see your vase, where is it?

Nice Murano style bowl you have there.  :)

Here's a similar one only without the silver inclusions.

Jessica, your LINK to the eBay vase works just fine.

However, your later picture is way too big and will cause awful problems for some board users. Can you either shrink the image to a more reasonable size please or add the image to a photo hosting site and post the link to it? Many thanks :)

BTW Your vase reminds me of the Californian company's wine carafes that were so popular in the 70's and 80's.

that HUGE green thing is a standard Empoli bortle green wine decanter. Go to Italy and order the house white in any pizzeria. These come in 1/4 1/2 3/4 1/1 and 1,5 liters. The earlier ones are hand made (finished pontil) but the more recent ones come out of a bottle making machine.

I would love to be able to resize the image or even remove it but I am not sure how to ? If anyone can tell me how to delete or resize the image I would more than happy to do so.

The HUGE green thing is definitely not what you described as a wine decanter. I was able to fill it with 2.5 gallons of water so its much larger than a 1/4 1/2 3/4 1/1 and 1.5 liter decanter would be.

Thanks for your posts.
Jessica

2.5 Gallons US is about 2 gallons UK or 9.5 litres

in that case it is an Empoli floor vase made to look like a standard wine decanter  - unless it is a Paul Mason factotum, of course
