But it's not, it's a blow-moulded fruit bowl in uranium green glass. Looks very fifties as well with its stippled frosting (this is moulded, not applied after) and its silver and black lines. Interestingly, the base is slightly concave all the way across. Any thoughts anybody please.

Any body got any ideas as to who, where and when please?
-
Christine, I would have posted earlier if I could have said, why I think it could be Belgium or France... :?: :!: I can't :(
IMHO could be Art Déco as well
-
Lampshade, European (including UK), 1950's or 60's even.
-
Christine, your frosted moulding looks like applied frit...I've bought glasses and a jug with the same effect. :?
-
No Max, I'm pretty certain it's not applied frit. It's not the same as the glasses, jugs and fruit sets you find with frosted bands. It's too regular, it's not raised and it doesn't feel the same - too smooth. It's stippling in the mould - see Connie's 'Greta' dressing table set

Bump with better pictures

On a related note I have a bowl that my Mum owns in a larger version as a lightshade. :)

I'm using son's computer at the mo and don't know how to use it properly so apologies, but I was searching for something and came across Belgian glass that reminded me of your bowl - nothing identical, but might be worth a search.
I was on the Hogelandshoeve site, but I don't know how to copy and paste the link using this laptop, sorry. I was looking under the Gallery link on the left under belgian glass.

It's not Matthey Crinkles; the texture is from the mould.

thanks for the link Chris - I have no idea how to use this laptop and youngest son has crashed my computer.
If you go to the left of that link to the menu, under Belgian glass, then paper labels, well under paper labels there is a link that says just Gallery, click on that and then scroll down the page where there are some more pieces with metallic bands. There are some pieces that shape wise and gilt wise are reminiscent of your bowl shape.

I see what you mean M, but Ivo hasn't commented. I'll have a look round

First pics are dinky ;) why are you convinced it is moulded effect? Well applied and fused frit enamels would be cheaper and simpler. Crinkles or another product... also applied the same time as the silver and fired together. Like to see more pics

Second lot of pix are not dinky!

OK stippled (probably ;) ) maybe older then. Bit odd to make a bowl that looks like a 50s enamelled shade.... or did the shades copy this bowl. Silver looks so lush and fresh, could it be something other than silver?
... nemmie show your's too please.

A comment, made on another topic, by Eugénie leads me to suggest BOOM Belgium as a possible for this, Christine... Worth a look maybe?

I think I went down this route to no avail thanks Anne
