Title: Antique Lampwork Paperweight. Please help ID!
Post by: casalibre on November 27, 2012, 04:11:53 PM
Recently I have purchased this paperweight.
I am sure it is antique (from the shape and so on...),
but I do not know: is it from France or is it from the USA (NEGC or B&S)?
435 GRAMM
Dia: 6,8 cm
H: 4,7
Many light surface wear.
Please look at the pictures!

Your pictures don't enlarge sufficiently to see the canes too well but I'm pretty sure it's Clichy.
 Bigger images would be good.

OK.
I will try to send a better picture of the canes.

Hi.  It looks like an antique Saint-louis nosegay to me - the general design is correct, and the smallest cane is typical of their colours.

Thanks Alan!
When I shall selling the weight on ebay, what could be a usual price for the item?

Hi.

All I can say on price is that a similar paperweight with grid cut base struggled in the recent Selman auction, getting (I think) a high bid of US $250. So don't expect too much!

OK.
I am living in Europa.
A bid of 250.- $ by Selman USA means:
Premium for the auction approx. of 50.- $.
Shipping costs 30$.-.
Fees about 50.- $.
In tutto about 400.-$ or not?

Hi

Well, yes and no. To get Selman prices you need the loyal bidders who buy your catalogue, and have done for many years. I doubt you would get near Selman prices if you sell on eBay - but you might just be lucky.
