Hi All,
Pretty sure someone will recognize this one. Relatively small vase, lightish blue in colour with swirled lines of colour running around the vase. Measures 3.5 inches high.
Has a very distinctive impressed/stamped design within the pontil mark. (Photos attached)
All thoughts appreciated.
Thanks
Greg

The three lions of Guernsey Glass methinks
-
Someone will come along witht he right answer soon, but for now - is that the three lions mark of Island Studio Glass, Guernsey?
-
agreed
-
Christine, we crossed postings! :) while you're here, is it Island Studio Glass or Guernsey Glass?
-
Thanks everyone. Had a look at a few other pontil marks on the web, 'Island Studio Glass' looks like a good fit.
Just to check are 'Guernsey Glass' and 'Island Studio Glass' two different companies ?Just come across conflicting info on the web.
Thanks,
Greg

Might be my error. Wait for Christine to confirm.

I have a paperweight with the same impressed mark and also its original label which is Island Studio Glass. From the little research I did before listing it on eBay, I'm pretty sure that Island Studio and Guernsey Glass are (or should I say were, as I believe that Island Studio closed in 2002) different companies.
Hope this helps a bit, John. 8)

:ooh:
I thought they were the same! But that's what this mark is.
(I see it as 3 stick men in a boat :wsh: )

OK, Island Studio Glass on Guernsey (not the US Guernsey Glass)
-
My thought was to flip the pontil so that I effectively looked through it from the neck of the bottle. That seems to show a name '???EUS' (see attached) I am wondering if looking at it through the pontil shows a better result given that refractiojn & reflection make it hard for me to make a better guess.

It doesn't say anything - flipped or unflipped, it's still the mark used on Guernsey Island Glass. (UK Guernsey Island Glass, not US Guernsey Glass) . See the photograph of the label on the marked paperweight. It's the same company, same label, same pontil mark.

Just in case anyone's wondering, the three lions are taken from Guernsey's official Coat of Arms.
