one of two items (from the charity shop) this morning - this one having tragically had major damage at some time in the past, but restored/mended very accurately. Rather naively I thought it was possibly IOWSG, but now I'm not so sure. Snapped pontil as you can see, and some wear indicating it may not be that recent. The iridescent swags are very attractive - and height is about 130mm - quite heavy for its size, and opaque. I appreciate that most of you will know what it is, but I'm trying to learn more about studio glass, although its a bit slow - so very grateful for your thoughts, and thanks for looking.

I really don't think it's Isle of Wight Studio Glass, Paul.
Wrong finish on the base, wrong finish and shape of the neck, far too thick and not a design of theirs.

o.k. Sue - think I get the point that it's not IOWSG ;D Actually, very irritating, because I can't get to grips with this one, but please do keep trying to help, and my thanks for your time. Paul S.

I posted this link to another thread. This vase is attributed to Rich Miller, Bittersweet glass. Your vase reminded me of this a little although the decor doesn't look as crisp the neck thickness/finish seems a little similar?

I've got a Rich Miller landscape bowl, it's finished off with a roughly polished base, signature is on the side of it, towards the base.
I rather think that's a very ambitious suggestion for this bottle, especially given Mr. Miller is american and this bottle is in Surrey.

m - thanks for the link to Rich Miller, although regret I know nothing of this output. However, as you say - although similar there are differences to sow the seeds of doubt. But I will pursue this line a bit more.
Sue......thanks for your reply. Being a veteran boot sale punter, I have ceased being surprised at what turns up from other countries. In the main I see material from the continent - and pieces from Germany, France, Scandinavia, Italy, Czechoslovakia etc. are frequent. Glass from the States is perhaps a little less frequent, but turns up regularly. Therefore I see nothing 'ambitious' should this item turn out to be from over the pond. Maybe other GMB colleagues from more northerly areas of the U.K. are not lucky enough to have this eclectic selection of makers ;)

I'd agree one sees stuff from all over the place, I just sort of think somebody as good as Rich Miller is highly improbable.
